20161229_115649Ultimate Intrigue

Published by Paizo Publishing

The latest of the Ultimate series books is packed with a ton of themed information. This is a gem for any espionage player or GM. Ultimate Intrigue features the Vigilante base class, new archetypes, feats, intrigue systems, social combat, new spells, and gear.

Vigilante base class has some pretty cool perks. The first and the coolest is the ability to have dual identities – like Batman! The class has the option for each identity to have a different alignment. My GM would have a lot of fun with that concept, and as a player it would be a great challenge to role-play. Beyond that you get to pick a path of specialization as an avenger or a stalker. An avenger gains an attack bonus equal to the character level, while a stalker capitalizes on stealth to gain 1d8 precision damage on flanked, flat-footed or otherwise unaware foes. This increases 1d8 every two levels. There are also several Vigilante talents. My favorite has to be Blind Spot. It allows the character to hide from creatures with special senses like Tremor Sense. That’s something I could have used in my last adventure.

There are of course several new archetypes in Ultimate Intrigue, and while many of them are specialized most can be used without too much difficulty. My favorite is the Guild Breaker, a Ranger who specializes in taking down an enemy organization. The difference is that the bonuses they get are applied to an enemy organization instead of to a favored enemy. This archetype also gets Deep Cover, which allows bonuses to Bluff and Disguise against the enemy organization.

Counting down to Gen Con T-4 Arena of the Planeswalker

Road to Gen Con 2015, Wizards of the Coast  Comments Off on Counting down to Gen Con T-4 Arena of the Planeswalker
Jul 252015

planes_mdArena of the Planeswalker is one of those games that is kind a mystery.  There isn’t a lot of information on it but it’s made by Hasbro and Wizards of the Coast.   The fact that it’s mad by both companies kind of worries me, but I will give it a fair shot.   They did good things in my opinion with Heroscape and it looks this game will be using a lot of those mechanics.

Where are my concerns?

My first concern is that Hasbro won’t play nice.  That is if Hasbro asserts too much influence the Magic the Gathering Themed game might loos that magic feel and therefore it’s luster to gamers.

It may never have achieved that magic feel so it’s only a miniatures game made to look like Heroscape.

Magic the Gathering has a very large arsenal of mechanics, I hope they can break it down to a starter level.

I hope the mini’s look good.

It might just be the rebirth of Heroscape, which isn’t the direction I would like a Magic the Gathering Board game to go.

Why I want this.

Magic the Gathering has been a part of my life for years.  I have always desired cool figures and I hope that The Planeswalker Arena gives Magic the feel of  two mages dueling it out.   At this point I believe the two companies probably have a solid foundation to build on.

SYRINSCAPE RELEASES DRAGON’S DEMAND SOUNDPACK FOR THE PATHFINDER RPG, PLUS ALIEN, EARTH ELEMENTAL, AND CRYOGENIC FACILITY

Syrinscape Also Announces Hell’s Rebels as Next Pathfinder Adventure Path in the Works for Syrinscape Treatment

SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA (July 3, 2015) – Syrinscape, the award-winning app that puts the power of custom, movie-like sound effects, soundscapes, and music, into the hands of the gamer, announces today the release of the Syrinscape SoundPack: Dragon’s Demand, to accompany the popular Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Module: Dragon’s Demand.

The Dragon’s Demand SoundSet includes all of the sounds needed to bring the module to life, with a spectacular Green Dragon, complete with a violently hissing acid breath weapon, a complete Kobold lair with a divine and an arcane spellcasting Kobold leader, a Clockwork Guardian, a small Lightning Elemental, Ghouls, bears, Grioths, and a Flame Drake. The Dragon’s Demand SoundPack includes samples recorded by Pathfinder fans at both PaizoCon 2015 and UK Games Expo 2015.

In further news, Syrinscape is thrilled to announce the next Pathfinder Adventure Path in production for its own SoundPack is Hell’s Rebels, and is expected to release August 2015, in conjunction with the release of the Pathfinder Adventure Path.

Syrinscape also releases today three new Sci-Fi SoundSets for the Syrinscape Sci-Fi Player:

Alien from Alien SoundSet: Yes, that alien. The one with the teeth and the acid and the really gross way of reproducing. With a selection of OneShot sounds such as airlock operations, flame throwers, detonators, and lots of things blowing up and trying to eat you, the Alien from Alien SoundSet has everything you need to scare your players, though it’s probably best to just abandon ship and set it to self destruct.

Earth Elemental SoundSet: Along with some usefull basic ambiances, and the earth-shattering fury of the Earth Elemental, this SoundSet is perfect for a Shadowrun summoning, and is replete with guns, missiles, lasers, and spells, and wreaking havoc in the city or the country.

Cryogenic Facility SoundSet: There’s nothing quite so useful on those deep space missions as a smooth-running cryo facility, and when it’s time for chaos with the click of a button, cryo tubes explode, alarms ring, cold steam bursts, and the staff screams in horror as the smooth running cryo facility goes horribly wrong.
