Drakerys is a miniatures game From Don’t Panic Games.  This game demo shows you the basics using the two player starter.  It is my opinion that this is the hidden gem of Gen Con. I’m so glad Derek Osbourne pointed it out to me.

I truly believe in the time initiative mechanic they have built, I felt it gave the miniatures game a real time feel.

I managed to catch up with the game designer (Derek) behind the new game HALO Ground Command.  He ran me through a turn and that was all I needed to see that the game is smooth.  HALO Ground Command features a reaction system that puts every model on what most games call overwatch.  It’s a pretty good mechanic and it really helps capture the feeling of playing the video game.

In this video Matt Takes a look at Yashima from Green Brier Games.  Yashima is a miniature game set in the far east that uses a tile setting system for terrain.  Oh did I mention there are no dice?

In this Figure Forge Matt Assembles the Post Human Republic starter for Dropzone Commander from Hawk Wargames.  The Post Human Republic turned it’s back on humanity long ago and is no longer recognizable as humans, but they are clearly cyborgs.

 

 

 

 

Once they are painted we will start playing some DZC.

Hey Guys look at what I have.   I picked up my second wave of myth at Gen Con.  This game only gets better.   So far I’m very happy with everything I’ve received for Myth.

About two years ago I had the opportunity to sit down with Tom Meier at Origins Game Fair.  In that interview I had my first chance to take a look at the game Freeblades.  You can learn just about everything you need to know about the company and the game in this video.  The most important and appealing information for me is the fact that their system has the same rules base from role playing to skirmish to a large scale squad based game.
