First Action Figures Based on the Legendary World of H.P. Lovecraft Release in Toy and Hobby Stores Nationwide Today
CHICAGO, IL (February 10, 2015): From a successful Kickstarter less than a year ago, to toy stores across the country, Warpo is thrilled to announce the Legends of Cthulhu retro action figure line releases today. Legends of Cthulhu are the first action figures based on the world of H.P. Lovecraft, and include The Deep One, The Professor, The Cultist, and the Spawn of Cthulhu himself, each a 3.75”, retro-styled action figure, sold separately (MSRP $19.99).
“We can’t thank enough everyone who supported the Legends of Cthulhu Kickstarter, and Warpo’s vision to create a truly unique and authentic retro toy line,” says Tommy Baldwin, VP of Product Development and Warpo co-Owner. “Fans of H.P. Lovecraft have waited a long time to have their elder god in toy form, and we are proud to have done justice to the worlds and characters.”
“Legends of Cthulhu launches a toy company looking to totally change the collectibles market,” says Bryan Katzel, President and Warpo co-Owner. “We want our customers to expect more from the toys they collect…and with a slew of exciting new projects in the works, Warpo intends to deliver.”
With artisan craftsmanship and detailed Method Manufacturing ™, Legends of Cthulhu figures stand easily alongside vintage action figure collections. To ensure an authentic retro look and feel, Warpo enlisted sculptor Eddy Mosqueda (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Masters of the Universe), and artist Ken Kelly (Micronauts, Manglor Mountain, KISS’ Destroyer album cover), both pioneers of the look and feel of beloved action figures from the 1970s and 1980s, to work with them to develop Legends of Cthulhu.
Founded in 2013 by avid collectors and toy industry veterans Bryan Katzel, Eric LeFeber and Tommy Baldwin, Warpo is Making Yesterday’s Toys, high-quality collectible toys with a a distinct retro look and feel. Taking an artisanal approach of “method manufacturing”, Warpo’s debut product line, Legends of Cthulhu launched with a Kickstarter in June 2014, and the company’s future releases include action figures, plush, playsets, and more.
