So Monte Cook Had this to say the other day

“Last week I decided that I would leave my contract position with Wizards of the Coast. I am no longer working on Dungeons & Dragons, although I may provide occasional consultation in the future. My decision is one based on differences of opinion with the company. ”

There is no drama bout the decision or anything like that.  he does say he has something in the works.  It should be interesting.

 

So what does this mean for Dungeons and Dragons?

Is something we should be concerned about as a consumer?  While it is a little alarming that he is leaving, I am not sure it should be  major concern of ours.  He doesn’t say there is a problem with the system.  In fact, he says he will miss working with the staff.

 

I have a lot of mixed emotions about 5 th ed.  I think the idea of getting all D&D players under the same rules set should be an ideal not a goal.

I wish I knew more about 5th ed.

The boxed set contains parts to make 25 plastic, multi-pose US infantrymen. There are several backpack and equipment options on the sprues so you can use this set to represent American footsloggers from their introduction to the Second World War in 1941 right through to the end of WWII. They wouldn’t look out of place in the Pacific and would even be good for US troops in the Korean War. For those of you after something a little bit different for an army how about painting them as Free French soldiers (they used US uniforms and equipment) or even the Brazilian Expeditionary Force!

So Wizkids is getting ready to move into another DC expansion for the Heroclix game system. Before I say anything here is a picture

 

 

 

 

 

 

I really like where WizKids is going with their sculpts.  I believe they have increased the quality of their figures since their original conception.  I also like the fact that they seem to be personifying the movies more than they used.

 

They are also giving away away a free Thor on Free Comic book day, at participating locations.  If you haven’t seen him yet here he is.

The dungeon-crawl continues.  Will Powers, Squirmy, Bonsai, and Professor Mora press on as they search answers to the mystery of these caverns far beneath the city of Rumi.  Oh, and Squirmy finds some new clothes.

New for Heavy Gear The Barnaby and the Chargeur

Well the brave men at Dream pod 9 have done it again.   They have brought us some great new models.  Two in fact.

The first is the Barnaby APC.

The Barnaby can be be pre-ordered at DP9

 

The Barnaby is used by the South to reduce wear on the gears and allow pilots a chance to relax before and after the battle.

 

It is currently available as a terrain piece or an objective.  the resin model features a high level of detail both on and inside the model.  the kit also includes a gear that can be used to change the tone of the piece.  The gear can be placed dismounting or it can can be  placed inside the hull of the Barnaby.

The Chargeur is next up on the assembly line.

It can also be pre-ordered at DP9

The Chargeur is an engineering gear used by the NuCoal forces.

It can be built for the Arena being equipped with vibro claws and a mauler fist.  Or if you prefer war, it can be built with with special manipulators for loading and off loading ammunition.  The two pack includes a variety of bits like the buzz saw, LACs, and two chain swords.
