STAR TREK ADVENTURES LEAVES DRY DOCK AND LAUNCHES AT GENCON
With the Release of Star Trek Adventures and Demos of Fallout: Wasteland Warfare, Modiphius Entertainment Announces Plans for Gen Con 50
LONDON, ENGLAND (August 10, 2017): Modiphius Entertainment, award-winning publisher of the Star Trek Adventures, Achtung! Cthulhu, Mutant Chronicles, Conan, Infinity and John Carter of Mars roleplaying games, announces today the line-up of activities planned for the historic Gen Con 50 convention (August 17 – 20, Indianapolis), including the launch of the highly anticipated Star Trek Adventures: The Roleplaying Game, the first new Star Trek RPG to release in more than a decade.
With only eight days left I’m going to start sharing the games I’m looking forward to. I doubt I will get to try them all with nearly thirty interviews scheduled at Gen COn 2016. This list will be presented in no particular order, but I think, at times, you will be able to tell which ones I anticipate more.
The first game is Star Trek Panic. I have not yet played any of the panic games, even though I have wanted to; life is a nasty villian sometimes that gets in the way of gaming. You might think that as a reviewer I play more games than the average individual. I’m not entirely sure that is true, I think I get to play about as much as most gamers. The difference is I almost always get to experience something new, which is cool most of the time.
Why Star Trek Panic? One it’s Star Trek and with the franchise turning 50 good things are happening. This is just what I believe the first of many will be. I’m a Star Trek fan. Plus, one of the mechanics reminds loosely of Star Fleet Battles, a game I used to play frequently.
Here is what I know
It is the fourth “panic” game.
You play in the Kirk era.
It comes with a cool 3d version of the Enterprise.
One of the key elements is recording damage doen to different sections of the ship. This is the part that reminds me of Star fleet Battles. It’s not nearly as tgactical but I really like the flavor it gives the game.
It is card driven and the cards are dependent on the number of players.
You can play the different characters, and they each have different special abilities reflectiung their personality and role from the Original series.
It’s a Co-operative game.
Without playing any of the panic I can’t say I have any reservations about Star Trek Panic.

I had the chance to grab a demo of Aline Frontiers from Gen Con 2014. A game that I have wanted to look at for a long time.
I have to admit from articles I read about Alien Frontiers I expected it to have a much larger learning curve. I found the game to be delightful.
At Gen Con 2014 I had the chance to sit down with Sean Brown and chat about Spurs and Alien Uprising. Spurs is a do it all kind of Western game. While Alien Uprising is all about crashing on the wrong planet. This interview was a lot of fun, a lot of wierd things happen during it that distract us.
You can learn more at MR. B Games.
Last Starfleet is a thrilling and intensely strategic cooperative adventure card game – Wicked Grin Games’ first publication! Last Starfleet is a card game that focuses on teamwork and communication. The game takes about 60 minutes to play and has a small learning curve.
Currently on Kickstarter here. Check back in a day or so for the written review.
