Gen Con Countdown T-minus 8 Star Trek Panic

Board Games, Featured, Gaming News, Gen Con 2016  Comments Off on Gen Con Countdown T-minus 8 Star Trek Panic

With only eight days left I’m going to start sharing the games I’m looking forward to.  I doubt I will get to try them all with nearly thirty interviews scheduled at Gen COn 2016.  This list will be presented in no particular order, but I think, at times, you will be able to tell which ones I anticipate more.

st_p_web_bannerThe first game is Star Trek Panic. I have not yet played any of the panic games, even though I have wanted to; life is a nasty villian sometimes that gets in the way of gaming.  You might think that as a reviewer I play more games than the average individual.  I’m not entirely sure that is true, I think I get to play about as much as most gamers.  The difference is I almost always get to experience something new, which is cool most of the time.

Why Star Trek Panic? One it’s Star Trek and with the franchise turning 50 good things are happening.  This is just what I believe the first of many  will be. I’m a Star Trek fan. Plus, one of the mechanics reminds loosely of Star Fleet Battles, a game I used to play frequently.

Here is what I know

It is the fourth “panic” game.

You play in the Kirk era.

It comes with a cool 3d version of the Enterprise.

One of the key elements is recording damage doen to different sections of the ship.  This is the part that reminds me of Star fleet Battles.  It’s not nearly as tgactical but I really like the flavor it gives the game.

It is card driven and the cards are dependent on the number of players.

You can play the different characters, and they each have different special abilities reflectiung their personality and role from the Original series.

It’s a Co-operative game.

Without playing any of the panic I can’t say I have any reservations about Star Trek Panic.

Please Check out My Gen Con or Bust Gofundme.

MaserfoxMaster Fox

$39.99

It’s night and the farm is quiet. What a great time to investigate the chick coop! In this frantic race of tactile recognition, you’ll need to capture the correct loot to win! How quick and careful are your hands as you attempt to become the Master Fox?

Each round in Master Fox, you flip three cards to reveal the animals you must capture, then shuffle the pawns inside the box, put on your fox blindfolds, and start feeling around with your hand for the right pawns! But your bag isn’t big enough to hold more than four catches, so you can’t grab everything you touch…

Whenever you think you have the right pawns, shout “Stop!” to end the round. Everyone scores one point for each wanted pawn in his bag, but loses one for incorrect or extra pawns.

Later rounds add tricks to the game: catch fox cubs for extra points, steal from your opponent’s bags with sneaky snakes, or defend yourself with the mighty hammer! Whatever you do, don’t be hasty because the shapes can be deceiving!
