Those of you that follow me know that the Gen Con Video Blitz is a relaunch of our canceled Season 8 Kickstarter. I knew I was going to fund pretty early on, but I didn’t expect to achieve it before Monday! So how did I know? I think, in part, it was because I already had some publicity from the  full season Kickstarter attempt.  The clincher was when I saw people pledging that I had never heard of. I knew that it was going to go all the way.  We still haven’t had everyone hop back on board yet from the previous project, and we are moving through stretch goals already!  While I am it it check this out:
Through Gamer Goggles Gen Con 2018 Video Blitz -- Kicktraq Mini

Not bad for twenty hours!

With that said the first stretch goal has already been met, which is the Road to Gen Con 2018.  The Road to Gen Con is my crazy way of communicating with people before the show. I did this a couple of years ago and I had a blast.  One of the first things I will do for the Road To Gen Con is create a landing page for it.  Then I will start reaching out to publishers for some inside information to promote them at Gen Con. There will be live Kickstarter videos on the topic of Gen Con – schedule coming soon.  The Road to Gen Con will also include the most complete miniature and RPG release I can muster.  No board games BGG has cornered the market on that one.

There are a lot of stretch goals to unlock and the rewards are awesome so don’t hesitate to check it out!

I’m so glad that so many people believe in what Through Gamer Goggles does, and I’m even happier they want to be a part of it.

Thank you,

Hot Box Pizza Review

While At Gen Con 50, I had the chance to experience Hot Box Pizza, the makers of the Official Gen Con Pizza, and I have to let you know about it. When I first decided to try their pizza, I was in my hotel room and failed because I didn’t realize the pizza was only offered at the downtown location and on Georgia Street. So the next day I tried to get to the downtown location, but I just didn’t have enough time between interviews. On day three, I decided I would grab it on Georgia Street amidst the hustle and bustle of the food trucks.

Harry & Izzy’s Restaurant Review – Gen Con 50

I had the pleasure of sitting down for lunch at Harry and Izzy’s for lunch the first day of Gen Con 50.  This wasn’t my first visit, my prior visit was in 2010 I believe, and is one of my favorite dining experiences ever. The time I spent there with my wife, Lisa, has made me want to return ever since. Sadly, I ate alone on this adventure.

It was no surprise that I was greeted cheerfully and quickly.  The hostess sat me in the back, away from the street. It was nice and could easily have been romantic if it had been a date. The server greeted me promptly, but she seemed a little nervous – it turned out I was her first customer out of training. She was a blast, but asked to keep her name out of the review. She took care of my order, just as expected, and then we had a great conversation about Gen Con before my meal came.

I Did get to talk with James Sutter about Starfinder @Gencon.  I caught him off guard a couple of times with questions that are light years away in development.  But we did discuss societies and organizations a good bit, and his favorite character.

I’m looking forward to Starfinder, I wish I would have picked it up at Gen Con, but they were gone.

At Gen Con 50 Laura Hoffman and I talk about Game On Tabletop and how it is different from other crowdfunding platforms.  One of those differences is it’s by gamers! Some of the others include fulfillment and marketing assistance.

I do believe I will be using Game on for my first game later this year, or early 2018.

Paolo Parente went around the Dust 1947 tournament table. He could have started anywhere, but he started with this guy.  The sound is almost non existent/muffles but the picture is clear.  Paolo thank you for loving your players.

I am fortunate enough to walk away from Gen Con every year with one true gem, I think this is this years!

Brad and I talk about Millennium Blades, Sell Swords Olympus, and I Can’t Even Monsters.  I suspect there is even more.

I can’t wait to to play Sell Swords Olympus.  I loved the first edition and I was told this is the perfected version.
