PZO7107REDMOND, WASHINGTON (March 28, 2018): Today Paizo Inc. released Starfinder Pact Worlds, the 216-page hardcover guide to the Starfinder Roleplaying Game’s core worlds and civilizations. Starfinder puts players in the role of bold science-fantasy explorers, investigating the mysteries of a weird and magical universe as part of a starship crew. Starfinder Pact Worlds is available for purchase at game retailers and paizo.com now.

Starfinder Pact Worlds includes:

  • In-depth gazetteers of the system’s 14 major worlds, from high-tech Verces and the draconic empires of Triaxus to the necromantic wastelands of Eox or magical bubble cities floating on the surface of the sun. Each gazetteer features a detailed world map, residents and cultures, settlements and adventure locations, a unique theme to customize characters from that world, and more.
  • New playable alien races, from the undead borais to plantlike khizars.
  • New starships, from the living vessels of the Xenowardens to sinister Hellknight Citadels.
  • A codex of themed NPC stat blocks to help Game Masters create vivid encounters.
  • New archetypes for every class, including the Star Knight, Skyfire Centurion, and Divine Champion.
  • Tons of new weapons, armors, spells, feats, magic items, technological gadgets, and more to help outfit your adventurers.
  • Cover art by Remko Troost.

“Starfinder Pact Worlds takes a deep dive into the worlds and cultures of the core Starfinder setting and details some of the most notable locations on these worlds,” said Robert G. McCreary, Paizo’s Starfinder Creative Director. “The book is full of exciting adventure hooks, and it has a ton of new rules content, too, like themes and archetypes associated with worlds and factions within the setting. There are also some beautiful new starships, like the Iomedaean Cathedralships and the living Gardenships of the Xenowardens. But I’m especially excited about the new playable races, including the bantrids, curious aliens who roll around on foot-orbs and are always in motion!”

Starfinder Pact Worlds is also available as part of the Starfinder Roleplaying Ongoing Game subscription and as a single-purchase PDF download at paizo.com.

Gen Con Chooses Charity Partners for 2018 Convention

Second Helpings and The Jack Vasel Memorial Fund Selected

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INDIANAPOLIS (March 16, 2018) Gen Con, the longest running game convention in North America, has chosen Second Helpings and The Jack Vasel Memorial Fund as its Official Charity Partners for 2018. In the past, the convention officially collaborated with one philanthropic organization each year. As part of this agreement, both organizations will receive the 2018 proceeds from Gen Con’s longstanding charity events, including an auction, a balloon sculpture, and the popular “Cardhalla,” a giant destruction of card structures.

“By featuring both of these deserving groups we hope to bring awareness to charities in both the Indianapolis and greater gaming communities,” said David Hoppe, president of Gen Con. “The generosity of Gen Con attendees has made a huge difference for charity partners in the past and we’re looking forward to supporting Second Helpings and The Jack Vasel Memorial Fund in reaching their fundraising goals.”

Gen Con, which celebrated its 50th convention in 2017, has taken place in Indianapolis since 2003. During its time in Indy Gen Con has raised more than $260,000 for local charity partners.

“As Second Helpings celebrates our 20th anniversary we are delighted to partner with Gen Con as an Official Charity Partner,” said Katie Prine, senior director of philanthropy at Second Helpings. “Like Gen Con, we recognize the power in bringing a community together around a passion. Whether you are interested in hunger relief, fighting food waste, or eliminating poverty through culinary job training, we are working on all three. Second Helpings staff and volunteers are excited to welcome Gen Con 2018 attendees to Indianapolis this August, and we extend our gratitude to all attendees for joining the fight against hunger in Central Indiana.”

Last year, approximately 60,000 people attended (turnstile attendance reached 207,979) Gen Con 50, and participated in over 19,000 ticketed events. The convention sold out for the first time in its 50-year history and is expecting to sell out again.

“The Jack Vasel Memorial Fund is thrilled to be this year’s Gen Con charity partner,” said John Kaufeld, board member of The Jack Vasel Memorial Fund. “It’s an honor to have our work celebrated by the people we serve.”

Gen Con will return to Indianapolis on August 2 – 5. Badges are still available and can be purchased at gencon.com

About The Jack Vasel Memorial Fund

The Jack Vasel Memorial Fund was started in April, 2011, in memory of Jack Vasel, son of Tom Vasel. Tom is an influential voice in the board gaming hobby, and the community rallied around him in his time of need. Amazed by this generosity and kindness, Tom was determined to help others who might undergo similar tragedies. The Fund was formed to collect and distribute financial assistance to members of the public who are part of the gaming community and who have suffered personal hardship. It is our hope and prayer that the Jack Vasel Memorial Fund will provide Jack with a legacy to help out the entire gaming community.

Gen Con Extends Contract with True Dungeon for an Additional Five Years

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

INDIANAPOLIS (March 9, 2018) Gen Con has renewed its contract with True Dungeon for an additional five years, with a guarantee that new content will debut at the show each year. True Dungeon premiered at Gen Con in 2003 with its first interactive, live-action story (dubbed “adventure”). Since then, they have debuted new content every year. True Dungeon offers players a chance to participate in a fantasy-based guided adventure over the course of two hours, with a constructed set, puzzles to solve, treasure, and actors to complete the experience. Players participate in storylines that are either puzzle-based or combat-based.

“Gen Con offers nearly 20,000 ticketed events, and True Dungeon proves to be among the most popular each year,” Gen Con President David Hoppe said. “Tickets for the event sell out nearly immediately. We’re excited to have a partner that provides a stellar, unique attendee experience.”

In 2017, True Dungeon celebrated its 15th anniversary by teaming with New York Times Bestselling Author Patrick Rothfuss to create adventures based on his books.

“True Dungeon is excited to extend our amazing relationship with Gen Con for another five years,” said Jeff Martin, creator of True Dungeon. “It was Gen Con’s generosity and vision that helped bring True Dungeon to life, and we know True Dungeon will continue to grow and thrive with their partnership.”

True Dungeon adventures have resided in Lucas Oil Stadium for the last two years, and will continue to take place in Lucas Oil Stadium through the remainder of their contract.
