Magic the Gathering: Modern Masters Booster Display

Reprints of popular cards for the Modern tournament format! Modern Masters is a large set of reprints from Eighth Edition through Alara Reborn. Modern format tournaments are played around the globe, from Friday Night Magic to the Pro Tour, and players have been clamoring for reprints of popular cards to add to their decks. Modern Masters brings back tournament staples, including the highly sought-after Tarmogoyf.

This set is available worldwide in English only with a conservative print run. Each booster pack includes a foil card, and many of the cards in the set will feature alternate art. Packs randomly include Token cards, several of which have never been printed before. Designed to be drafted! Modern Masters was designed with a booster draft experience in mind. Display boxes contain 24 packs, the perfect amount for an eight player booster draft!

Wizards of the Coast today announced two exciting new features coming to Magic 2014 – Duels of the Planeswalkers! Sealed Play and a new take on the popular Slivers creature type will both make their debut in the Duels of the Planeswalkers franchise with Magic 2014.

The addition of Sealed Play will allow players to open booster packs and build decks to play against the AI and other players. Each sealed pool is comprised of 84 cards, mimicking paper TCG booster packs. The PvE experience includes a six-deck ladder where players take on mono-colored Sealed decks each corresponding with a particular Planeswalker, and finally facing a ‘boss’ Sealed deck.

Another feature debuting in Magic 2014 is a new take on the popular Slivers creature type. A fan-favorite, new playable Slivers in Magic 2014 decks will include the following:

? Sliver Construct

? Predatory Sliver

? Groundshaker Sliver

? Megantic Sliver

? Blur Sliver

? Striking Sliver

? Thorncaster Sliver

? Battle Sliver

? Sentinel Sliver

? Bonescythe Sliver

In addition, Hive Stirrings, a sorcery that creates Sliver tokens, will also be included in Magic 2014.

The Magic 2014 – Duels of the Planeswalkers video game will be available for PC, Xbox Live Arcade, PSN, iPad, and Android tablet for the first time when it launches this summer. The Magic 2014 product line-up also includes the Magic 2014 – Core Set for the paper trading card game (TCG) and Magic Online.

Storm Over Never Winter

Wizards of the Coast announces the next season of D&D Encounters – and a D&D first! Returning to the famed city of Neverwinter, the Storm Over Neverwinter season begins today and runs through June 5.

For the first time ever, D&D Encounters features higher level starting play! Players can begin this season at 4^th level and use any official 4^th Edition materials to create their character. Players also have the option to play through Storm Over Neverwinter as either a D&D 4^th Edition adventure or as part of the D&D Next Playtest. Conversion notes are available for playtest participants at www.dndnext.com.

In this season of D&D Encounters, players head back to one of the most popular adventuring locations. Neverwinter has persevered in the face of calamity, yet even as it rebuilds, an insidious threat rises from within its walls. Heroes are needed to stop these perils; otherwise the city might face an even greater danger on the horizon.

It’s less than three weeks away from the launch of Dragon’s Maze and the Azorius guild is currently on top of the guild leaderboard with 3,390,302 Planeswalkers Points!

While the release of the final set in Magic: The Gathering’s Return to Ravnica block on May 3 comes with great excitement, it also means that time is running out in the battle for control of Ravnica. But there is still time to join a guild! So please feel free to encourage your readers to pick a side as they enjoy the rest of the Return to Ravnica block. In choosing an affiliation, players can take part in the battle of control for Ravnica at their local Wizards Play Network locations.

Get ready to send the Orcs to war, because the newest Dungeon Command faction pack, Dungeon Command: Blood of Gruumsh, releases today! Designed for two to four players, Dungeon Command is a head-to-head skirmish game that features themed miniature factions designed to play as unified war bands in a game that eliminates luck-driven mechanics in favor of player-driven skill, creativity and quick thinking. Blood of Gruumsh includes such monstrous miniatures as the orc archer, barbarian, chieftain, and the orc cleric of Gruumsh!!

Each Dungeon Command faction comes in its own box containing 12 pre-painted plastic miniatures (plus the cards, tiles and rules for the game). In addition to their use in Dungeon Command, these miniatures can also be used in the Dungeons & Dragons Roleplaying Game, with their cards further usable with D&D Adventure System board games (The Legend of Drizzt, Castle Ravenloft and Wrath of Ashardalon). While each faction is meant to be played by a single player, quick-start rules allow two players to engage in a shortened version of the game using only one box.

WotC Releases Digital Copies of the Classics

Being a player of Dungeons and Dragons for oh almost 30 years now I am looking forward to getting some of my old books.

At our Gen Con 2012 keynote address, Wizards of the Coast was pleased to announce that in early 2013 we would be releasing the first wave of D&D backlist products in electronic format.

Today, Wizards of the Coast together with DriveThruRPG, is thrilled to announce the official launch of Dungeons & Dragons Classics, a new online PDF store containing classic content from every edition of D&D, including fan-favorite supplement materials and iconic adventures. A one-stop-shop for classic D&D content, DnDClassics.com offers an easy way to access and download favorite titles electronically by computer, mobile phone, or tablet (including iPads).

How does it work? It’s easy! Simply create an account* and instantly gain access to a wealth of D&D titles. There are 80 titles available at launch, with smaller batches of additional titles being released on a rolling basis starting in early February. Favorite titles can be downloaded to an online Library or saved to a “Wish List” for purchase later. Most titles can also be printed. Watch as Matt delves into Dungeon from Wizards of the Coast.

Dungeon is not what I was expecting. I was expecting a game that leaned more towards an RPG feel. But after I got over my expectations and played the game for what it is; a board game. I thoroughly enjoy Dungeon. The game is simple enough that an eight year old can grasp the concepts While an adult can seek more tactical challenges.

The concept of the game is to gather treasure. Each player assumes the role of a character; Rogue, Cleric, Fighter, or Wizard. Each Class has a set amount of treasure they need to gather and then get out of the dungeon. Combat is pretty simple you roll two dice and compare the roll to the number you need to beat on the monsters card. The greater the challenge the greater the reward. The rules suggest appropriate threat levels for the classes. To be blunt Rogues are wimps so they fight low level monsters.

All in all the game turned out to be pretty good even though I expected something else. You can play Dungeon with 4 player a couple of times in an evening fairly easily.
