From Hundreds of Contestants, Now Down to Four, as Global Competition to Find New Stars in Game Design Enters Final Round
REDMOND, WA (March 3, 2015): Paizo Inc., creator of the popular Pathfinder Roleplaying Game, announces today the Top 4 Finalists in the 2015 RPG Superstar Game Design competition.
RPG Superstar™ 2015 Top 4 Finalists and their Winning Encounter with a Map Designs
Brian J. Fruzen (Milwaukee, WI) – The Gloomsworn Path
Monica Marlowe (Cincinnati, OH) – The Hanging Gardens of Karexin
Kalervo Oikarinen (Helsinki, Finland) – Fellforge Chapel
Christopher Wasko (Connecticut) – Darkblight Fallow
“Behold our four finalists! They have navigated the surprise of creating a new category of magic item, diligently labored to create stand-alone maps, wrought creatures of the Darklands, and braved the travails of creating new and interesting encounters,” says Owen KC Stephens, Pathfinder Developer and Host of RPG Superstar 2015. “Hundreds began this exhausting and arduous path, and now these four have proven themselves to be the best of the year.”
In the final round, the Top 4 must design a 32 – 40 page adventure for 5th level characters, set in the Nar-Voth. The deadline for the final round’s entries is March 13, 2015, and public voting will begin March 17, 2015 on paizo.com/rpgsuperstar.
Now in its 8th year, RPG Superstar receives thousands of entries from all over the world, which are reviewed by a panel of experienced game designers, and then voted on by the paizo.com community, who have cast millions of votes over the years.
The winner of the competition will have their adventure published by Paizo as a Pathfinder Module, a full-color, 64-page, high-quality softcover book, compatible with not only the Pathfinder Roleplaying Game (RPG), but also with any game published under the Open Gaming License (OGL). Also, three runners-up will win assignments to write adventure scenarios for Paizo’s Pathfinder Society Organized Play campaign, offering all four finalists professional writing contracts with Paizo Inc., and an opportunity to begin their game design careers by working on the world’s best-selling roleplaying game.
The Pathfinder Roleplaying Game is the wildly popular tabletop RPG, in which players take on the role of brave adventurers fighting to survive in a world beset by magic and evil. THE STRANGE Player’s Guide
$19.99 SRP
This will be a 96-page softcover book that will give a brief introduction to the setting and provide information needed for character creation. GMs can give this to their players to introduce them to the game. It’s also really handy at character creation time, or any time it’s useful to have another copy of the most important rules at your gaming table.
Savage Worlds: Steamscapes: North America
$19.99 SRP
North America in 1871 is a land of adventure, opportunity, and conflict. Inventors from the American Consolidated Union supply automatons and steam-powered machinery to the oil fields of Texas and the mines of the Rocky Mountain Republic. Wells Fargo airships and steam carts compete with the Southern Pacific’s monopoly on transcontinental rail travel. Native saboteurs raid across the borders from their home in the Plains Tribal Federation to destroy the technology that threatens their land.
Steamscapes: North America is the first setting book for Steamscapes. It includes extensive alternative historical backgrounds for the four most prominent nations of North America and offers six new professions with associated skills and edge trees, as well as the automaton racial template. It provides several introductory scenarios and a variety of character templates so GMs and players can jump right in and start playing.
Steamscapes: North America requires the Savage Worlds core rulebook to play.
For centuries, the armies of the Great Houses have fought to reclaim the glory of the fallen Star League, sending regiments of their elite MechWarriors into battle across hundreds of worlds as humanity slid inexorably toward a new Dark Age. The coming of the Clans—descendants of the lost Star League army—did little to stem the slaughter. It only raised the stakes.

Blackclaw Games has recently released Space Conspiracy. Space Conspiracy is a role playing game in the science fiction genre with a large dose of quirky humor mixed in.
In the game, characters are created with a point buy system that players use to assign values to various attributes like Smarts, Muscles, and Attention Span. Players can also spend points on bonus traits such as “shiny” which grants the character shiny skin that helps reduce the damage taken from lasers. Players can get more points to spend by taking negative traits such as “doomed” which can result in the character being squished by a random asteroid. Dying in the game is almost assured, but the existence of clones allows characters to live on in different bodies, albeit sometimes with mutations.
Upon creation, each character knows about a randomly created conspiracy. The combined collection of conspiracies known by the party shapes the campaign universe. Within this universe characters will face challenges, wear living hats, and battle great horned fuzzwazzles with rocket launchers and ham sandwiches.
More information about Space Conspiracy can be found at www.spaceconspiracy.com. The book can be purchased at Amazon and a downloadable PDF is available at DriveThruRPG.
