Ares Games to launch a new Kickstarter project to release the real time, cooperative card game Dungeon Time
June, 14h 2016 – Ares Games will launch a new Kickstarter project to fund the release of its new card game: Dungeon Time. The campaign will run from June 29th to July 15th – click here to watch the teaser trailer.
Dungeon Time is a real time, cooperative card game of exciting dungeon adventures and catastrophic failures, designed by the Italian author Carlo Rossi and illustrated by Denis Martynets. Players will enter a fantasy realm with only 5 minutes to find the equipment and achieve their missions – time is their worst enemy!
$39.90
The war is over, and your ships are trying to sail back to your homeland after a long absence. To do so, you must beg forgiveness of the wrathful sea god, Poseidon. You need to reach the Sacred Island to make offerings and prayers to the gods…but the irascible Poseidon will use all his powers to prevent you from getting there!
As one of up to four players commanding the Greek ships, you must sail through endless storms, blind to all around you, trying to gather clues to your whereabouts to stay on course.
As Poseidon, you throw powerful storms against the sailors, driving them off-course and confounding them, so they can’t reach the Sacred Island in time.
The game uses two boards, hidden from each other. The Poseidon player uses special tiles to secretly move one or all the ships on his game board, which shows the real position of the ships, giving information to the sailors about what they see around them. The navigators have to guess where they are, moving their ships on their own game board based on their deductions, as they trace their course to the Sacred Island. Multiple game boards enhance replayability; special overlays are included to make the game easier or harder, according to the players’ preferences.

Ares Games and Gremlin Project announce new Sword & Sorcery board game
Legendary heroes fight the forces of evil in a new fantasy cooperative game designed by the team who created Galaxy Defenders
July 26th, 2015 – Heroes with unique powers are called back from death to save the kingdom and break the spell that binds their souls, in the new game developed by Gremlin Project and due to be published by Ares Games in 2016: Sword and Sorcery, an epic-fantasy cooperative board game, where one to five players fight together against the forces of evil, controlled by the game system itself.
Jolly Roger: The Game of Piracy & Mutiny
$19.90
You are a crewmember on board a pirate ship and you have just elected your new captain. This man will lead you toward fortune or disaster… Luckily, if you don’t agree with his choices, you can always start a mutiny and become the next captain yourself!
Every turn, the Captain chooses a destination for the ship. When the ship attacks, players will (more or less!) cooperate to win, playing crew cards from their hands to win the battle and take the prize. Treasure gained is divided between all pirates, but your gold is never secure until you bury it at Treasure Island…
Unrest is always brewing – each time the Captain makes a choice, it is possible for one of the other players to call, “Mutiny” to try to overthrow him and become the new Captain. And when the mutiny begins, you’ll need to decide how to use your cards: how much will you cooperate, and what will you keep to yourself for the next mutiny?
Fast, rowdy, and easy to learn, Jolly Roger is equally fun for casual players and veterans of a thousand battles.

Ares Games partners with Horrible Games to publish and distribute worldwide the English version of the storytelling game “Co-Mix”
June 10, 2015 – The Italian games publishers Ares Games and Horrible Games announce a partnership to release the storytelling game Co-Mix in a worldwide English language edition. Published by Horrible Games and released in 2014, Co-Mix had a limited English first edition printing and was available only in Europe. Thanks to this license agreement, Co-Mix is going to be reprinted by Ares Games and distributed in the USA and other English-speaking countries across the world.
In Co-Mix, players craft their stories by laying out several cards to create a full blown comic book page. Up to ten people can join in the fun, playing individually or in teams. Each player chooses the kind of story to tell – noir, horror, adventure, romance, and if it will be funny, scary, exciting, or moving. All players must create the story based on the same title – the best stories are voted by the other players.
The game features a rich and varied set of cards, representing different panels of a comic book. Cards are laid out to create a complete comic book page following the proposed title. Each card shows an inspirational illustration, with a varied set of characters, actions, and settings. When all comic pages are ready, each player or team tells their own story. Then, the stories are voted by the other players, using voting tokens to indicate which story they think is the most original, most exciting, or best composed.
“Co-Mix is an imaginative and fun game, created by a talented designer and published by one of the most innovative boardgame companies on the market. We are glad to partner with Horrible Games to release this new version of Co-Mix. We think that this game fits our catalog very well, as it’s strongly thematic, fun, and easy to play; virtues we always want our games to have,” said Roberto Di Meglio, Director of R&D of Ares Games.
“Co-Mix was the first game published by Horrible Games, and I’m very happy of the good reception it had from both gamers and game developers. The only regret we had about it was that we couldn’t find a way to bring Co-Mix to the USA… until now! We are confident that the partnership with Ares Games will allow our game to achieve its full potential, in the country that helped establish the comics industry we all know and love, and all around the world,” declared Lorenzo Silva, from Horrible Games.
Co-Mix was designed by Lorenzo Silva, with artwork by Matteo Cremona, coloring by Max Rambaldi, and graphic design by Antonio del Bono. The English edition by Ares Games is expected to release in October 2015. For more information, visit the Co-Mix page at Horrible Games website and the Ares Games website.
