student bodiesStudent Bodies is a cut throat zombie game designed by Michael Grenier and Matthew Regney. Published by Smirk and Dagger Games, it’s recommended for two to five players ages ten and up. I would say that the cut throat style of play in this game leads to a slap in the face kind of motif.

In Student Bodies you and your peers are faced with the dilemma of escaping the highschool during a zombie apocalypse. The problem is that there are so many zombies you first need to get to the chem lab and create an antidote or in game terms find it. Then you have to make a dash across the campus to escape out the front door after dodging a shambling mound of zombies without getting bitten. Don’t worry too much about being bit, if you’re turned into a smart zombie and can still win by eating other players, which I find to be a rather fun and redeeming factor when there are more than two players.

Guns of Galicia

$ 55.00

Goming Soon

Guns of Galicia (GoG) uses the same core rules as Guns of August (GoA) to simulate Corp-level fighting on the Eastern Front in WWI. Game mechanics compensate for players’ 20/20 hindsight to encourage historically accurate play that makes “sense” in game terms while avoiding a “straight jacket” of special rules to enforce irrational play. Players maneuver corps and divisions through 9-mile wide hexagons in turns that span three days each. Chit pull activation along with modest movement point allowances generates a highly interactive game. Scenarios included are the 1914 Galicia campaign, 1915 Tarnow campaign, and 1916 Brusilov campaign.

Medina de Rioseco

$ 40.00 SRP

The Battle of Medina de Rioseco, 14 July 1808, was fought during Napoleon’s War in Spain between two Spanish Armies under the commands of General Joaquín Blake and General Gregorio García de la Cuesta, and Marshal Jean-Baptiste Bessières in which the Spanish force was defeated after a closely fought, but determined assault by the French. Medina de Rioseco was the sole French triumph in the initial invasion of Spain, which failed to seize the country, ultimately requiring a fresh campaign by the Grand Armée under the command of Napoleon himself to (temporarily) secure Spain. Medina de Rioseco is the sixth game in the Eagles of the Empire series, and is a stand-alone add-in battle to Spanish Eagles (Talavera, 27th and 28th of July 1809, and Albuera, 16th of May 1811.) and is completely playable by itself. Medina de Rioseco features both a historical and alternative battle that allows players to recreate the engagement as it was fought or to bring in additional Spanish forces available but not present at the battle. Game design by Brien Miller and Mark Searle.

The Spanish Tercios 1536-1704

A mixed infantry formation made up of about 3,000 men armed with pikes, swords and handguns, the innovative and influential tercio or ‘Spanish square’ was the basic combat unit of the armies of Spain throughout much of the 16th and 17th centuries. Arguably the first permanent tactical formation seen in Europe since the Roman cohort, the tercio was the forerunner of modern formations such as the battalion and regiment. The variety of different weapons fielded in the tercio meant the Spanish infantry could resist opposing cavalry forces while overcoming every kind of enemy infantry deployed against them. Featuring full-colour artwork and photographs of rare items held at the Spanish Army Museum, this study covers the whole period during which the tercios were active, opening with the third Italian war between the forces of France and the Holy Roman Emperor and concluding with the final transformation of the Spanish tercios into regiments in 1704.
