GW has announced the new Necron models for the May release.

Triarch Stalker

Tomb Blades

Canoptek Wraiths

Canoptel Spyder

and several character models.

You can see all the images here.

My favorite model from this wave is the Canoptek Wraith.  With the said the Necron image has changed a bit too much to really get into them.  I like the old image a lot more.

Dark Eldar 1000 point List

This is one of my favorite lists of all times at 1000 points.  Not only is this list easy to play it allows you to apply several different strategies while it is on the table.   It just doesn’t matter what you are playing against with this list you stand a a chance.  It is balanced.  Yet it’s fairly straight forward.  While the Dark Eldar as a whole are a pretty balanced army this one is a shooting army.   That doesn’t mean they can’t hold their own in close combat it just means they  will do better without it.

The army contains only 56 models. While that is not an impressive number the important thing to note is the firepower.  We will look at that in a minute.  Here is the list

If you haven’t read the first two installments of this article you might want to start there.

I have gone ahead and converted a Ellyrian Reaver into a Centigor.  Since, I am not very artsy I am quite happy with the result.  I even think it is a better representation of the what I believe a Centigor should look like than the actual models.   Below I will give you the step by step instructions that I used followed by a gallery of photos.

This month in December GW is giving us some good deals and some new models.

The monster Ghorgon) above is one of the many fantasy releases you can find here.  Thy also have two really good army deals.  one for the High Elves, and the other for Skaven.

For 40k they have two army deals MegaForces) that won’t be around long.  The Dark Eldar ( I wish I had 600 bucks to spare  for three) and the Space Marines.   Both of them rock in at 215 dollars and contain about 300.00 worth of product.  you can view them here.

Game Review Warhammer 40K

Warhammer 40K is another sci-fi skirmish game.  It has a huge following.  It is both loved and hated by gamers around the world.  There is just so much one can say in the great GW argument, but we aren’t here to fuel that debate.  I am here to give an honest review of Warhammer 40K

Here is my brief history  of 40k.  In November of 2004 (the night bfore Thanksgiving actually)  I painted my first 40 Dark Eldar Warriors.   For, oh the next 3 years we played pretty hard, 2 or 3 nights a week.  So, what happened?  Life just kind of got in the way.  Our 4oK games began to grind down.  We still play a game or 2 a year but it is nothing like it used to  be.

So here we go the roller coaster known as 40K.

Warhammer 40k Uses an archaic set of game rules.  The largest detriment to the game is the whole army activations.  The game industry moved away from this around 2003.  Not only is whole army activation old it slows down game play.  The game would play much faster if the interaction of activations alternated form player to player instead of army to army.  Further, if  the activations alternated squad to squad the game would allow for more tactics.

Building 16k Deciding on Centigors

Building 16000  Comments Off on Building 16k Deciding on Centigors
Nov 152011

If you have not read the rest of this diary you might want to start at the beginning.  When I started building my 16000 point army I knew there would be some challenges. The most obvious challenge is money. I have been looking for ways to curb the cost of this monster for some time now. One of these ideas is to use proxy models when ever I get the chance. I will only do this for the models beyond that of a standard game (3000 points).

Looking at my army I have a need for about two hundred Centigors. Games Workshop charges about 12.00 a piece. That is just way too much money. I guess that leaves me with two options. One is to sculpt them all myself, or make a master mold. The other seems to be converting them. Both the options will take a considerable amount of time and both seem daunting.

About two years ago I started looking for a cost efficient model to convert. I was at a loss and had given up. Then GW came out with the Island of Blood starter set. It contains Elyrian Reavers. A very inexpensive model. You can get 5 on eBay for like 5 dollars shipped. Yes, I had decided it was time to start converting.

Now, that I had chosen the base model for my Centigors, I needed the rest of the pieces parts. You can get everything you need out of the Gors box set. Or if you are cheap, like me, you can find everything on eBay to make five Centigors for under 10.00. Yep, that’s right five 12.00 figs for only 10.00.

Next time around I will either post my how to make the Centigor from a a reaver or I will post some pics of the one I have finished. I am still deciding if this should be a video, written instructions, or both.

Figure Forge: Building the Necron Command Barge

In this episode of Figure Forge Danny Assembles the Necron Command and Annihilation Barge.  He uses rare earth magnets to show you how easy it is to have both models for a little bit more than the price of one.

Warning this model contains small parts and therefore is a little complicated. It is a long video.   You should also note that Danny is an expert at gluing his fingers together – you are not.

I suggest getting a soda and some popcorn.

Well we learned a lot from this one.  In the future we will do large models in at least two parts.
