About two years ago I had the opportunity to sit down with Tom Meier at Origins Game Fair.  In that interview I had my first chance to take a look at the game Freeblades.  You can learn just about everything you need to know about the company and the game in this video.  The most important and appealing information for me is the fact that their system has the same rules base from role playing to skirmish to a large scale squad based game.

I also had the chance to discuss the game mechanics with Jon Cleves, the chief designer at DGS Games.  In this video he explains the unique and simple mechanics involving combat.

You might be wondering why I am revisiting these after two years?  It’s really simple, Freeblades is one of the most balanced skirmish games I have found to date, and DGS has a plan to expand Freeblades all the way out to a squad based game.  Since Origins 2012 they have funded two Kickstarters to expand the miniatures line, now their third is underway.

It has some great features like an awesome $60 pledge level that allows you to choose any two factions (including the Kuzaarik).   It is a great way to break into Freeblades.  Plus the backers gain access to discounted backer only prices.  And one of the cooler add-ons is the campaign map that is a backer exclusive.

If you’re looking for a new miniatures game, this is the perfect time to start Freeblades.

You can check out the Kuzaarik project on Kickstarter.

Here is the project video.  Thanks for checking it out!
