Matt flips through the book Of Occult Mysteries from Paizio.  We go over things like the secret societies, numerology, and  the exodus of the gnomes.

This is an interesting book.   Paizo took a different path than I was expecting.

In this Box Breaking Matt Takes a look at PRDF Amy Task Force from DP 9 it includes GP Squad, Strike Squad, Fire Supprt, Patrol Squad, and Infantry.

I spoke with Robert Dubois about the current contents of the Army Task Force deal and how it might change with the beta rules, here is what he had to say.

“The Task Force Deals that we sell now don’t include the rules (either the old field manual or new beta rules) they are only miniatures. But the Task Force Deal has an option to purchase a copy of the rules at a special price the new Beta Rules small b&w format book costs only $11.99 or the old Field Manual small format book costs only $7.99 when purchased as an add-on to the Task Force, here is a link to the PRDF Task Force on the Dream Pod 9 Online Store.

PRDF task Force
There are also so other specially priced add-on orders customers can add to the Task Force like Striders, Decals and Dice. I expect the 4 main factions (North, South, PRDF and NuCoal) task forces to stay the same for a while.”

We are planning to make some small 4 miniature squad packs (Fire Support, Strike and Recon) in the future, like we did for the 4 main faction GP Squads just before Gen Con, as the Beta Rules allows for 4 Gear Squads.

Matt takes a look at the new starter box the Resistance for Dropzone Commander from Hawk Wargames.  The models in this kit are resin and beautiful sculpts.

I do believe this is my favorite looking faction.  This starter set will be out soon.  Check back next week to see the Post Human Republic and the Shaltari.

Love Letter from AEG review

I was introduced to Love Letter at Origins 2014, where it won an award for best family game. Honestly if it weren’t for Jason Hardy I wouldn’t have given the game a first look. I mean what kind of game has only 16 cards? Well Love Letter does, and it does it well.

Annette-317x600The object of the game is that each player is trying to have a love letter delivered to the princess who’s grieving the loss of the queen. The princess wants nothing to do with society and has locked herself in the tower.

At the start of the game each player has one card in hand. At the start of a player’s turn they draw a card and play one. When a card is played the written effect is triggered. At the end of the round the player with the highest card value is the winner of the round and receives a marker indicating a letter has been delivered to the princess. The game rounds continue until one player has a predetermined number of letters delivered. The number of letters is set by the number of players.

It doesn’t sound like much does it? It doesn’t take long for a player to realize that if they don’t count and use logic they’ll lose. Then it hits you to bluff and it really begins. The combination of bluffing and deduction keeps the players engaged the whole game. There is no waiting to do something because you’re too busy studying your opponents.

I really thought that Love Letter was going to be a loser, but it turns out to be a winner largely because you don’t play the game, you play the players.

ShuffleTech is the first time I have ever seen High quality sleeves paired with sleeve inserts at a reasonable – no great price.

When I start playing MtG again, hopefully soon, I will consider these for protection.
