It has been a couple of weeks since Dark Ascension has released and  a standard pro tour is behind us as well.   I know I could have made all kinds of predictions about what is going to be and why it is going to do so, but I have had a lot on my plate.

With that being said we should take a look at what the face of standard held for us a few short weeks ago. The Standard environment is pretty wide open.   The main archetype decks were:

  • Delver  Blade
  • Black Red control
  • U/W illusions
  • Grixis Control
  • Humans
  • U/W Humans
  • Wolf Run Ramp
  • Birthing Pod

Warmachine Colossals are Coming.

Just what is a Colossal?   We do not have a lot of information to go on.  What we do know  is they are big.   These special warjacks rest on a 120mm base and have multiple weapon systems.  You will learn a lot more if you watch this video.

What do they mean for you as a gamer?  We have been tossing ideas around.    After some debating we have come up with these questions.

Is this the end of  Warmachine as we know it?  Maybe, but we doubt it.  It is about to get better.

Will players want to play bigger games?  Lets hope so, there is nothing better than playing with everything.

Will they be too much for a regular game?  This is a tough one, that really depends on what you consider regular and how many points they cost.

Matt paints up the Alkemy Character far Eye for the Aurlok Nation.   This video is about 40 minutes long.   10 minutes longer than his goal.  oh well, he isn’t pefect.

Another figure of Matt’s is painted only 2,950 left to go.  Actually he has more than that to paint, we doubt he will get them all painted.  Hope you enjoyed Off the Palette.

Introduction

This is the first in a series of articles about “Character” Creation?  What do I mean by that?  (Especially the part with “Character” inside quotation marks.)  I mean, all the parts that are not covered in the basic mechanics of a particular RPG’s character creation system.  I mean the creation and development “universal” aspects of an RPG character – personality, attitude, behavior, motivation, psychology, etc.  I mean those parts that are at the heart of the “Role-Playing” experience (as opposed to the “roll-playing” experience). Howdy gamers!  And welcome back to Through Gamer Goggles.  This is the second episode of our first Silvervine game session, led by THE John Arcadian..

In this week’s episode we describe our characters (and learn a little too much about Matt).  After that we try to determine if worms are kosher, and discover that Squirmy will work for his can.

So what will the group do next?  Will they seek employment from the Thieves’ Guild? Will they go see the folks that dared attack the Thieves’ Guild in broad daylight? Will Bonsai get distracted by something shiny? (Well, that’s a guarantee.)  Or will they do something totally random?  Find out in our next episode!
